The organization

The World Service is the internationally recognized humanitarian and development arm of the Lutheran World Federation, assisting people in need irrespective of their ethnicity, religion or gender. Purpose of the position The Lutheran World Federation, in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, established operations in Jordan in 2012. The Lutheran World Federation is assisting refugees and vulnerable groups in Amman, Zarqa, Irbid, Mafraq and Za’atari camp. The Lutheran World Federation is running projects related to Education, WASH, Livelihoods, Protection, Rehabilitation and Humanitarian Assistance. In order to ensure timely and quality implementation of the above mentioned program, LWF Jordan is seeking to recruit a Livelihoods Coordinator to oversee Livelihoods activities in Jordan. The Livelihoods Coordinator will be responsible for a team dedicated to implementation of programing including coordinating, consolidating, and ensuring smooth implementation of Food Security and Livelihoods programs through support to the FSL teams and ensuring adherence to LWF and donor guidelines and standards.

Required Qualifications o Relevant university degree o Valid Driver’s license o Applicants are required to be in sympathy with the core values of our organization.

Knowledge and Experience •
o Ability to capitalize on past experience and information available within the organization in order to become self-sufficient and autonomous quickly. o Ability to take initiative where appropriate to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work. o Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organization itself. o Ability to work within a fluid situation (changes within the team, location of programs). o Motivation and commitment to humanitarian ideals. o Interest in involvement beyond the job assigned i.e. active involvement in the ethos of the organization itself. o Ability to integrate into the local environment including awareness of political and economic aspects of the country. o Ability to conduct work in a professional and mature manner. o Coordination with other international actors (i.e: donors, UN, INGO, local authorities). o Knowledge of donor’s policies and guidelines. o Good stress management in tense and difficult environment. o Previous proposal writing experience o Experience of working group and/or refugee contexts a plus. o Passionate about serving the poor o Committed to team-building o Able to develop and support other team members o Two years’ relevant work experience essential. o Minimum 4 years’ humanitarian experience. o Management of international and national multi-cultural team. o Further experience in intercropping, Afgro-forestry, cover crops, micro irrigation or rainwater harvesting or related subject desired.

Language Skills • English: advanced verbal and written skills required. • Arabic: working knowledge an advantage. .

Main duties

Program Management and Development

  1. Plan and implement food security and livelihood activities such as: Assessments and surveillance interventions, Agro-sylvo-pastoral interventions, Cash based interventions, Food aid interventions, Income Generating Activities interventions, research an innovative interventions to fight hunger.
  2. Establish and maintain working relations and collaboration with authorities, working closely with the MOH, relevant Field Coordinators and other Livelihoods Coordinators, to ensure the effective implementation of activities, development of alternative opportunities.
  3. Establish and develop SOPs with government and other partner agreements as appropriate.
  4. Oversee and supervise the activities of partner NGOs receiving sub-grants when needed.
  5. Develop and contextualize training materials and deliver trainings on child Livelihoods, case management, psychosocial and other relevant topics to staff, government and local partners.
  6. Ensure effective M&E tools and mechanisms are established and operational
  7. Contribute to the development of the Jordan FSL strategy and interventions within an integrated country program strategy. Contribute to integrated program strategic planning and lead sector-specific strategic planning.

Representation, Coordination & Partnership

  1. Participate actively in the Food security and Livelihoods Working Groups and other coordination forums.
  2. Establish and maintain relationships with relevant ministries and other Livelihoods actors, working closely with the MOH, relevant Field Coordinators and other livelihoods Coordinators, to help establish LWF Jordan as a key actor in livelihoods.
  3. Participate in the development of advocacy messages regarding Livelihoods issues.
  4. Identify, select and collaborate with partner organizations in line with the LWF Jordan’s partnership process. Accompany and build capacity of partner organizations as per partnership agreements.
  5. Coordinate internally with the Program Manager and Country Director to ensure child Livelihoods activities implemented by LWF Jordan are complementary and effectively coordinated.
  6. Where appropriate lead joint activities and trainings with ACT members as needed.

Logistics Support

  1. Carry out all of the procurement processes for the LWF Jordan program, in line with the LWF Jordan procurement manual, procedures and guidelines.
  2. Follow up on procurement related to livelihoods projects.

Financial Management & Accounting

  1. Follow LWF policies and procedures to insure goods and services are only purchased with correct authorization and within budgetary limitations.

Human Resources

  1. Participate in recruiting and building capacity of Livelihoods staff
  2. Provide on-going support, mentoring and on the job training for direct supervisees conducting regular performance review.
  3. Actively seek out formal and informal training opportunities for Livelihoods staff and partners
  4. Ensure that all child Livelihoods staff have timely performance evaluations and receive regular feedback
